I checked out the new banner as well and it did stand out--a bit too much. Perhaps in time, we'll get use to it.

Yeah, Woody's is open again. New ownership, but they are open.

What disturbs me is the Enquirer's total lack of presence in this city. I'm used to my big city paper throwing its weight around and wagging a finger at corrupt/sleazy/inept/oppressive government. The Enquirer is, well, invisible.
As an example, why didn't the Enquirer have something to say about Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters going to work for, of all law firms, that of Stan Chesley? W...

While on the subject of mechanics in Covington: Glen's Chevron at 20th does and excellent job and will never tell you that you need something when you don't. Also, Victory Battery in Covington is also awesome and incredibly cheap. Incidentally, you're much better off with a foreign car for reliability and performance. My 91 Honda Accord is still going strong with routine maintenance.
Thread: Moerlein Buys Little Kings. Post by Greg
Little Kings actually changed their formula over the last 25 years. Sometime in the eary 80's they went away from the creamier taste to a more mainstream beer taste. In the past 5 years or so they went back to the original, and I think better, creamy taste. I would suggest going & getting the new brew, it's tasty

open up both the new enquirer page and cnn.com then switch back and forth between the two.

So true. These guys are great, and it's several experiences like yours that lead my wife and I to use them exclusively for our three cars.

Well it's better than it was. Still looks a little stark & barren. But I think that matches their newspaper right now.

Thread: Government by Referenda: What's On Your Wish.... Post by John
Government by referrendum is costly, erratic, slow, and un-American. Representative government will solve most problemns. The 9x ballot is the least representative government in America and has been declared unconstitutional when challenged because of racial bias. It tends to magnifiy the power of the majority to the complete loss of the minority. Many people in electoral disciplines refer thi...

The only Cincinnati beer brand I enjoy is the entire Christian Moerlein line unless with count Sam Adams which is actually brewed here. Hudy Light is utter crap and I wasn't impressed with Mt. Carmel Copper Ale. From the first two postings about Little Kings, I doubt I will be embracing this one either.

WestEnder: yeah.. thats true, lol.
But seriously though, every other week its like, lets bitch and act all haughty about how much the enquirers website sucks, how inferior it is, how slow it is, the background color, blah, blah, blah. It's become a hobby for you "urba hispter" types. Is it really that important? A website is a website. The Enquirer will always be like it is. Move on.

Quim is right - the Charter is a statement of principles and guidelines, not a handbook for every single situation. Otherwise, why not just make the City Code Book the Charter and call it a day?
State constitutions have similar problems as well. Look at California, where items that should have been limited to codes/laws (or not even on the table) now have the force of the governing document.

Representative Democracy is what our country is founded on. Over use of the Plebiscite leads to mob-rules. I think the problem with the Smitherman and COAST Cabal is that they like the idea of mob-rules.

A big problem that I have with the latest NCG ballot initiative and with their last "Red Light Camera" issue is that they both deal with fairly specific bits of technology. Beyond the nonsense of outlawing the use of technologies that we already control, The Charter should be used to address broad PRINCIPLES.
Your argument for the city getting out of the criminal defining business sounds pretty g
