A number of posters have made much ado about the fact that they think SHS kills nonsmokers.

No one has ever said that anti-smokers were very smart.
Smoking bans cause more non-smokers to die!

Since 1965 there has been a 50% decrease in the adult smoking rate.
Since 1990 there have been literally thousands of smoking bans of one sort or another enacted.

Since 1965 the exposure rate to SHS has decreased by 75%.

If going smoke free made Tavern, Bar and Private Club businesses more profitable, why do these businesses have to be legislated against to make them go smoke free?

The entire purpose of these businesses is to make money. It doesn't make sense that they would continue to allow smoking if it were "proven" as the propagandists from the ACS, the AHA, the ALA, and the RWJF would have us believe, that smoking bans increased business.

Fear of quitting is a powerful force

One thing that I've seen come up in a number of reader comments is the fear of quitting tobacco use. Fear is a powerful animal and frequently a driving force in determining the choices we make. People generally go to great lengths to avoid what they fear, because it means venturing out of a comfort zone and into a new, unfamiliar reality.

Germany's highest court rules against smoking ban

KARLSRUHE, Germany (Reuters) - A German ban on smoking in indoor public places should be overturned for small bars, the country's highest court ruled on Wednesday.

The Karlsruhe-based Federal Constitutional Court said small bars were at an unfair disadvantage due to the ban, rendering it in breach of the constitution. The measures came into effect in most of Germany's 16 states at the start of the year.

This e-mail is being sent to express a concern a large number of Ohioans have with the media and their one-sided slant of the news.
On or around June 23, Ohio Sen. Schuler and 12 co-sponsors introduced a bill to clarify the exemptions Ohio’s smoking ban, Issue 5, was to have had in the law based on what voters read when they went to the ballot to vote. Clearly, no private club or family-owned business was exempt once the rules were written.
