A decline in business dooms B. Hampton’s

Columbus lost one of its most popular happy-hour destinations early Saturday morning when B. Hampton’s Bar and Grill served its last drink.
Capuano indicated B. Hampton’s was a victim of a declining customer base.

“Business had really been bad lately. Ever since the smoking ban, it had gone downhill,” Capuano said. “All the new bars in the Arena District hurt us, too. Everybody wants to be somewhere that has a patio. And it’s really sad, because for years and years, this was the place to be.”

B. Hampton’s was known for its happy hour, serving $1 domestic bottled beer and $1 well drinks from 4 to 9 p.m. daily, weekends included. It made AOL City Guide’s list of top singles bars this year.

But it also suffered because of a lack of parking. The building has a small lot on the premises, but most on-street parking anywhere within walking distance is permit-only.
